Hosta First Frost forms a small to medium mound, reaching a height of 40cm-45cm and spreading up to 75cm at maturity. This exquisite, medium-sized Hosta features thick, heart-shaped blue leaves with a wide, creamy margin that matures to pure white. In mid-summer, spikes bearing pale lavender, funnel-shaped flowers appear on 60cm scapes. It is advisable to shield this Hosta from intense afternoon sunlight. Hosta First Frost is slug resistant and partial sun tolerant. It was awarded the American Hosta Growers Association Hosta of the Year in 2010, has received recognition from the American Hosta Society with the Distinguished Merit Hosta award 2013 ,  and received the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
