Hosta Red Hot Flash was introduced in 2005, and is a tetraploid form of 'Peedee Gold Flash' with bright yellow leaves margined in green, beautiful red petioles. More vigorous than 'Peedee Gold Flash', with more substance. The small, 10"-16" in height and 20"-24" in width at maturity, is upright, spreading, clump is composed of medium-green leaves with a very wide, golden center that changes to parchment as it matures. One of the neat effects is to constantly have both colour leaf centers on the plant simultaneously. The red-tinted leaf petiole adds another dimension of interest to this unique hosta. The clump is topped with 26" tall spikes of dark lavender flowers in midsummer. Not sun tolerant or slug resistant.
