Hosta Red Stepper is a small to medium mound, reaching 14"-16" in height and 18"-22" in width at maturity, and a rather unusual green leaved Hosta. Shiny, moderately wavy, and twisted leaves have distinct red stems. The red on the petioles is concentrated at the base and not highly visible after the leaves are fully unfurled. Good in sun or shade. Hybrid of 'Invincible' with very glossy green leaves held on red petioles. The glossy green leaves really shine in the hosta garden. At maturity the leaves look like they've been crinkled. Can handle a lot of sun especially in the UK. Pale lavender flowers on 30" scapes in late summer surprisingly not fragrant. Not slug resistant though.
