Hosta Red Salamander forms a small, loose mound approximately 25cm-36cm in height, with a spread of up to 60cm at maturity. The ovate green leaves are set on long petioles, which are red at the base and exhibit red spotting up the stem. The leaves are dark green and glossy. This plant is particularly attractive when displayed in a well-chosen container, especially during its flowering period. The lavender flowers are presented on long, green scapes that reach up to 60cm, holding the blooms well above the foliage. This Hosta is sun tolerant. It grows relatively quickly and can be divided every 3 to 5 years to increase stock.
