We are so lucky to live and run our Hosta business from the Heart of Yorkshire. We are based in the small village of Skewsby, just on the edge of the Howardian Hills.
The Howardian Hills National Landscape covers 204 sq km (79 sq miles) of the North Yorkshire countryside, nestled between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York. It is a unique and captivating area with its well-wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields, scenic villages and historic country houses with classic designed parklands. Its designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was confirmed in 1987, in recognition of its national landscape importance. It is part of the National Landscapes network.
With tomorrow the 1st August being Yorkshire Day, we just wanted to share our passion for our home ....Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Day recognises the rich heritage of England’s largest county every August 1st. It’s a day to celebrate everything from our stunning landscapes to our beloved traditions. Join in the festivities by exploring local events, enjoying Yorkshire puddings, buying a Yorkshire Hosta! or simply raising a glass.
Make the visit to our nursery a part of a day out, exploring the local area and even staying in an air B & B (in the village), (Hut in the Wild). Have a drive around and visit what the area has to offer such as York, a fabulous city for visitors and shopping. Try local village such as Malton, the foodie capital of Yorkshire, or try Helmsley with its own castle and even a walled garden.
There are plenty of eating houses, & pubs around us. Loads of magnificent stately homes and large gardens to see.
You will always find a warm welcome from us and all the locals. Yorkshire folk are some of the friendliest people in the country. Come and experience it for yourself.
