Celebrating Four Years of Rewela Hostas & Growing Strong

On Thursday 8th May 2025, we are proud to celebrate our 4th anniversary. This is a milestone that sadly few start-up business’s actually achieve. Indeed, this is a passionate hobby turned into a thriving business.
There have been many challenges as well as rewards that we have learned from, and we appreciate all the help we have had over the years.
How it all started
It all started 15 yrs ago, when we opened our garden for the National Garden Scheme. We had many visitors to the garden, who wanted plants to buy while they were here. We started selling plants on the open days and other group visits. This evolved over the years.

The Challenges We Faced
In 2020 the UK was gripped in the Covid 19 pandemic that reduced our visitors to the garden to zero. We started selling Hostas on Facebook as a way to keep moving forward.
In March 2021, both myself & Daphne decided to retire and turn our Hosta selling hobby into a business. Daphne decided to build a website designed to continue selling our Hostas, but to be both informative & interactional. www.rewelahostas.com
We have enhanced the website with regular Friday blogs on a whole range of Hostas related subjects, created and issue a monthly newsletter as well as a mid-monthly one. It’s been hard work, but through it all, we have remained committed to our initial mission.

Our Milestones & Achievements
4 years ago, we offered about 100 different Hosta varieties for our customers. It became quickly evident that this was not enough. Hosta lovers are always looking for that ‘new’ variety, that they haven’t got. They want to see new Hostas every year.
Over the past 4 years we have expanded our choice of Hostas to make more choice available to customers. So much so that we now have some 850 varieties in stock, with over 700 of those varieties available for sale at some point.
It was important that we were able to have a website that was easy to navigate and gave as much information as possible, as we could, and people could see what they wanted, and buy it online straight away. Our website was further developed, adding extra bits for the benefit of customers, based on valuable feedback by customers. Our customers help us develop the website by expressing their valuable opinions.

Our Service to You
We strive to take our customer from viewing, to buying with as much ease as possible, and then offer a postage service of delivery in 2-3 days. If the variety you want is on the website is available, you can buy it. You can have it in your garden within a few days. You do not need to wait weeks or send cheques and emails. It’s yours today.
All of our Hostas are grown in pots on the nursery and are then sent out bare root to the customer. https://www.rewelahostas.com/delivery-details These can be sent out 52 weeks a year.

The nursery holds about 800 display pots that are just a little bit older than the sales stock, for the visiting customer to see the full-grown Hosta. There are also some 600 varieties grown in the garden, for the same reason.

Visits to the nursery are by appointment only. Just e mail and we will fit you in.
Visits to view the garden are also by appointment and are for groups of 10 or more, and with these visits, we provide refreshments. We welcome groups from WI, Garden Clubs, U3A groups, in fact any group of 10 or more are welcome. https://www.rewelahostas.com/gardenvisits
