Hosta Cranberry Wine forms a compact mound, reaching a height of 25-35 cm and a spread of up to 55 cm at maturity. In spring, its bright gold leaves are thick and rubbery with elegant, ruffled margins. By mid-summer, the leaves transition to a medium green while maintaining their graceful appearance throughout the year in shaded gardens. During July and August, striped, purple flowers emerge on cranberry-coloured scapes that reach up to 60 cm. This variety is cultivated primarily for its thick rubbery leaves and red scapes that support the attractive purple flowers. Additionally, it features glossy, rippled green leaves and deep purple-red leaf stems. A bright location will help retain the gold colour of the leaves longer into the season. The plant also exhibits reasonable resistance to slugs.
