Hosta Desert Mouse will form a miniature to small mound of 15cm-20cm in height, with a spread of up to 30cm, at maturity. Hosta Desert Mouse is another member of the Mouse Ears family, with creamy-white leaves that turn white as the season progresses, bordered by a blue-green margin. It is a compact, mound-forming miniature with a medium growth rate. This plant is similar in appearance to Hosta Pure Heart but has better growth. The Hosta Desert Mouse is resistant to slugs and reasonably tolerant of the sun if kept out of the midday sun. Although it generally grows well, it may require some winter protection from extreme cold, like many miniatures. However, it is still relatively hardy. In July and August, pale purple flowers bloom on short cream scapes up to 30cm tall. This plant can be a valuable addition to any collection.
