Hosta Red Stepper will form a small to medium sized mound, of about 14"-16" in height, with a width of up to 22", at maturity. A rather unusual green leaved Hosta. Shiny, moderately wavy, and twisted leaves have distinct red stems. The red on the petioles is concentrated at the base and not highly visible after the leaves are fully unfurled. The glossy green leaves really shine in the Hosta garden. At maturity the leaves look like they've been crinkled. Can handle a lot of sun. Hosta Red Stepper loves the sun and has bright reflecting blades that glisten when the light hits them. Pale lavender flowers on 30" scapes in late summer. Not slug resistant, but good in sun or shade.
