Hosta Empress Wu is recognized as the largest Hosta ever introduced into commerce. This plant can mature to a height of 120cm-150cm and a width of 168cm-240cm, forming an impressive upright cascading mound with large, deeply veined, cordate-based leaves that measure up to 70cm long by 62cm wide. The leaves initially emerge glaucous blue green in the spring, but they lose their waxy coating and blue tint, maturing to a matte or slightly shiny green by summer. Pale lavender flowers on 200cm scapes bloom just above the foliage in early summer, each accompanied by a large pale lavender bract. This plant serves as an outstanding focal point for any garden and is sure to be a conversation starter. While it thrives in full sun, it can occasionally be susceptible to slugs, but minimal.
