Hosta Red October will form an upright mound reaching approximately 45cm-55cm in height, with a spread of up to 60cm at maturity. In spring, its long, narrow, oval to lanceolate leaves display a blue-green hue with white undersides. By late spring, the leaves transition to a greener shade and are supported by red petioles, with the red coloration extending into the leaf midrib. It blooms later in the season, typically in August or September, featuring lavender flowers on reddish-purple scapes that reach a height of 75cm in early autumn. It performs well in both sun and shade conditions, with average resistance to slugs.
