Hosta American Sweetheart will form a medium mound of 16"-18" in height with a spread of up to 36" at maturity. This is a sport of Hosta Sea Thunder, with lovely variegated upright foliage. The dark green leaves initially has creamy yellow centre changing to white. The leaves have a thicker substance than that of Hosta Sea Thunder, making it fairly pest resistant. As a pale centred Hosta it is a little slow growing, but have much thicker & wider leaves that stand up better throughout summer, making it slug resistant & sun tolerant. Pale lavender, almost blue flowers appear on 30" plus scapes in July, through into August. A fabulous looking Hosta for the border.
