Hosta Amethyst Gem is a vigorous miniature to small variety that reaches a height of 15cm-20cm and a width of 45cm at maturity. This plant forms a dense clump of glaucous green, heart-shaped leaves and produces numerous amethyst lavender flowers on 36cm scapes in June. It is an excellent choice for the foreground of a border or as a container plant, especially when mass planted. For optimal growth, it is recommended to grow very small Hostas like this one in a pot for a season or two to develop size and root strength before planting them in the border.
