Hosta Amethyst Gem is a vigorous miniature to small variety that reaches a height of 15cm-20cm and a width of 45cm at maturity. This plant forms a dense clump of glaucous green, heart-shaped leaves and produces numerous amethyst lavender flowers on 36cm scapes in June. For best growth, it is recommended to grow very small Hostas like this one in a pot for a season or two to develop size and root strength before planting them in the border. Note: Miniature Hostas should be potted in well-draining compost.
