Hosta Chris' Tropical Sundown will form a medium mound of 40cm-50cm in height with a spread of up to 100cm at maturity. It has long, narrow, slightly ruffled, yellow leaves with red colouration at the base of each leaf. The slightly rippled leaves become somewhat green but remain chartreuse. The dark red petioles hold the foliage upright and provide a distinct contrast. This introduction from Christina Brinkmann features colours reminiscent of a tropical sunset. Hosta Chris' Tropical Sundown presents a variety of colours in a compact plant. Lavender flowers appear in late summer on red scapes, reaching up to 75cm tall. It can tolerate some light sun.
