Hosta Red Racer will form a medium sized mound of 35-40cm in height, with a spread of up to 80cm at maturity. Hosta Red Racer showcases glossy green leaves paired with striking red petioles, creating a captivating colour combination. The leaves, while primarily green, also feature a subtle glossiness. This Hosta is the result of a cross between Hosta Maya Kingsnake and Hosta Mr. Jack, which contributes to its unique and appealing characteristics. Thick green leaves with rippled margins are held on dark red petioles. The red continues up the midrib and veins of the leaf. In spring the red blushes into the leaf and the leaf margins. Durable looking Hosta with the thickness of the leaf suggesting some slug resistance. Lavender flowers appear on 65cm long red scapes during July & August.
