Hosta War Paint will form a medium to large open mound of about 90 - 100cm in height, with a spread of up to 150 cm, at maturity. The leaves drop down and resemble its parent - Hosta Niagara Falls. The edges are slightly wavy. The basic colour of leaves is green. Edges are darker, lighter centre, and very irregular. Just after it sprouts the plant shows the biggest colour contrast - though bright centre contrasts with a darker edges. Later in the season, the centre of the leaves turns to a darker green and the plant at the end of the season lost the contrast and becomes completely green. Outstanding plant. The pie-crust leaves make this plant especially resistant to slugs, and it seems to enjoy the early morning and late afternoon sun. It will just take your breath away. Pale purple flowers appear on scapes of up to 120 cm in July & August. Both slug resistant and sun tolerant. This is part of our special collection.
