Hosta Volcano Island will form a small to medium-sized mound reaching approximately 30cm to 36cm in height, with a spread of up to 80cm at maturity. This tetraploid sport of Hosta Paradise Island features thicker foliage and broader dark green margins. The wider green margins often streak towards the midrib, providing a striking contrast with the yellow centres. The attractive leaves are borne on red petioles, with the red colour bleeding into the base of the leaf. As the plant matures, the leaves will develop some corrugation and exhibit gentle waviness along the margins. This Hosta demonstrates a vigorous growth rate, thick foliage, and notable colour variation. Lavender flowers emerge on 60cm scapes during July and August. The plant offers a beautiful colour contrast with its green and yellow leaves on red petioles. Additionally, it is both slug-resistant and sun tolerant, making it an excellent addition to any garden.
