Hosta Fire Island will form a small mound reaching 25cm-35cm in height with a spread of up to 75cm at maturity. This Hosta is highly valued for its brilliant foliage and striking stems. Hosta Fire Island forms an appealing, dense mound of broad, heart-shaped leaves that start as a glowing pale yellow and mature into chartreuse. The leaves are shiny on top and matte underneath, providing a beautiful contrast with the bright red stems, which retain their bold colour throughout the growing season. By June and July, tall scapes up to 50cm produce funnel-shaped lavender flowers. While Hosta Fire Island can present some challenges in cultivation, it proves to be well worth the effort. This outstanding variety has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
