Hosta Lipstick Sunset forms a small to medium clump, reaching a height of 36 cm to 45 cm, with a spread of up to 65 cm at maturity. The leaves emerge bright yellow in spring, held on vibrant red petioles, which provide striking colour contrast as the red bleeds into the leaf. During summer, the leaves transition to a lighter green hue. The foliage is slightly rippled, broadly ovate, subtly twisted, moderately wavy, and features a slight texture on the surface. Its petioles exhibit an intense red coloration on both sides. In mid to late summer, pale purple flowers bloom on bright red scapes that stand 60 cm tall.
