Hosta Halcyon will forms a small to medium-sized plant, reaching a height of 30cm-45cm and a spread of up to 90cm at maturity. It is considered one of the best blue Hosta cultivars available. Hosta Halcyon creates an attractive, dense mound of smooth, flat, spear-shaped, thick-textured, intense blue leaves. Hosta Halcyon retains its striking blue leaf colour well into late summer when provided with adequate light and dappled shade. In midsummer, bell-shaped dark lavender blooms appear on mauve-grey scapes that can reach up to 70cm in height. Hosta Halcyon has received recognition from the American Hosta Society with the Distinguished Merit Hosta award 2024, and from the Royal Horticultural Society with the Award of Garden Merit, and awarded the American Hosta Society Hosta of the Year 2026. This variety is known for its slug resistance and is sun tolerant.
